Why I'm pursuing this path
For most of my adult life, I've bounced around companies and functions, trying to find something that fits. Most recently, that's been data analytics and strategy where I've learned to balance structure with curiosity and logic with intuition.
Deep down, though, I've always been drawn to something bigger--creating a lifestyle fully aligned with my core values: wisdom, curiosity, resilience and impact.
For years, I've dreamed of starting my own company and getting something off the ground that I can call my own, but self-doubt, uncertainty and a lack of vision meant I never quite understood what I wanted. It took me a long time (40 years!) to get to a place where the pull from my calling is stronger than my complacency.
The vision
In five years, I want to be:
running my own business built on my core values of clarity, resilience and purpose
coaching, advising and sharing insights that help people find clarity, balance and meaning
maintaining financial stability and independence while doing meaningful and satisfying work
living in alignment with my values, focusing on learning, balance and family
How this fits in
I'm only at the very beginning and there's a lot that I want to do. This will serve a few different purposes:
A space for reflection - I'll share what I'm learning along the way--successes and failures as way to process, refine and discipline my ideas.
A collection of systems and insights - I'll detail the strategies, systems and tools that help me stay balanced and productive that you can adapt for your own journey.
A way to stay accountable - By writing publicly, I'm committing to taking real steps toward self-employment, not just thinking about it. This also serves as a primary record of milestones, setbacks and growth.

We are never to old to make a real, lasting change. Good on you for having the courage to take the road less traveled and become a sovereign individual. I too am on the same path and send you encouragement. You are right... there is nothing like putting yourself out there on the line in front of the world to hold your feet to the fire.
